Samsung’s Mobile Business In India Grew By Over 20%

Samsung’s mobile business in India outpaced the growth of the market, growing at around 25% by value in the first half of 2022, primarily on a strong uptake of the Korean brand’s flagship S-series, the mainstream A-series and budget M-series smartphones, a top market research companies and executive said.

Samsung took the top position during the quarter, with a good gap between second-placed Xiaomi, with 17% value market share, and fourth-placed Vivo with 16%. Apple took the third position, with 13% share.

Counterpoint market research unit’s latest smartphone shipment and retail pricing data is out. The data shows that Xiaomi remains on top in terms of volume with a 22% share of the shipments, while Samsung ranking second with a 19% share. Realme took the third spot with 16% share.

To consolidate its leadership further, Samsung launched two budget M-series smartphones in the high-volume segment of under Rs 15,000 on Thursday. One of them is the brand’s cheapest 5G smartphone featuring support for 11 5G bands.

The smartphone maker has launched some new models and smartphone offers, including an unlimited plan and a mobile payment feature.
